PERSONNEL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Elementary Computer Science Teacher June 20, 2024 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Participate in curriculum review and design.
- Maintains familiarity and ability to implement Virginia Standards of Learning for Computer Science.
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with Computer Science SOLs
- Collaborates with other faculty in planning and facilitating student instruction that integrates learning within and among academic disciplines, integrates applied learning scenarios, and incorporates project-based learning.
- Collaborates with other faculty in planning and facilitating student instruction that integrates learning within and among academic disciplines, integrates applied learning scenarios, and incorporates project-based learning.
- Host PD workshops for teachers on implementing the Computer Science SOLs.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Represent Wythe County in Computer Science initiatives provided by the VDOE.
- Effectively collaborate with department and grade-level teachers.
- Plans and facilitates instruction to students in a blended-learning setting.
- Reviews, revises, and creates curricula and learning resources for computer science courses.
- Performs other duties as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license
- Computer Science endorsement preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience
- Prior experience working with students of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, utilizing blended and project-based learning, developing curriculum, and assessing student achievement.
- Requires knowledge of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of instruction as well as general knowledge of academic curriculum for assigned classes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals to design and deliver instruction and to assess student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning.
