About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO) to join its executive leadership team. The CDCO will be instrumental in promoting the organization's mission and increasing financial support from a variety of sources. This role involves developing and implementing strategic communication and development plans, leading a team to secure resources from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government sources, and ensuring consistent messaging that reflects the organization's values. The successful candidate will be a bold and dynamic leader with a proven track record in fundraising, a strong understanding of marketing and communications, and a passion for the mission of the organization. Key responsibilities for the CDCO include strategic leadership, team management, and fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and resourceful fundraiser, a strategic systems thinker, and a collaborative, inclusive, and emotionally intelligent leader. They should have experience in building and engaging a dedicated team, managing departmental budgets, and developing evaluation frameworks to measure the effectiveness of communication and development activities. The CDCO will also be responsible for crisis communication planning and response, and for ensuring the organization's brand and reputation are effectively managed. A strong commitment to the values of justice and a champion of culturally humble leadership are essential for this role.
