SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for serving as the official spokesperson for the City of Box Elder, providing accurate and timely information to the public, media, and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field; AND four (4) years of professional public relations experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
The City Clerk will assign work in terms of general instructions, department goals, and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through meetings, reports, and observation of department activities.
CONTACTS:
Contacts are typically with coworkers, other city staff, elected and appointed officials, members of the news media, and members of the public. Contacts are generally to exchange information, motivate people, and provide services.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in an office setting with intervals of field work related to information gathering, preparation, and dissemination. Regular out-of-state domestic travel may be required for attending conferences, trainings, etc. The mode of travel will be determined by the City and may include air, train, and/or vehicle depending on the distance and duration of the event.
