Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Paints and repairs walls, doors, ceilings, and other internal and external objects. Provide back-up for the Service Technician/Apprentice.
Hourly Pay Range: $22-$26/hour.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Managed by the Community Director, Senior Community Director, Service Team Mgr, Lead Service Manager or a Service Manager
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Mix, match, and apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
- Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
- Cover surfaces and furniture to protect them from paint and remove splattered paint.
- Maintain tools and equipment and ensure that they are in proper working order by cleaning and caring for brushes, spray guns, and other equipment.
- Request replacement supplies as necessary and assist in stocking inventory.
- Assist Service Technicians in performing their duties and responsibilities as needed or as requested.
- Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of organizational and community policies and procedures. Knowledge of an ability to follow proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, community, and departmental policies, procedures and standards.
Skill to professionally apply paint, wood finish and other surface preparation. The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. The ability to work on a ladder. The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. Ability to acquire knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements.
Ability to be pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude. Ability to proactively recognize and implement superior customer service to internal and external customers.
Demonstrated ability to understand and comprehend instructions. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, associate/resident/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor.
Ability to use a computer, a smart phone, and enter service ticket information into the system.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular bending, stooping, walking and stretching. Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry or maneuver weights up to one hundred (100) pounds independently and two hundred and fifty (250) pounds with assistance. Sensory capability to detect odors and hear sounds necessary to detect, diagnose, and repair machinery. Requires normal range of eyesight. Ability to physically access exterior and interior parts of the community and amenities and be able to climb ladders. Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Periodic exposure to outside elements where temperature, weather, odors, and/or landscape may be unpleasant and/or hazardous. Flexible schedules with occasional evening and regular weekend work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience in painting.
- Experience with carpentry, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing is a plus.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted.
