Lead Stage Technician: $24.75 - $30.18

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Arts Center Production Manager, provides support for all technical aspects of theatrical and performing arts activities of the Lone Tree Arts Center, a multidisciplinary, multi-venue presenting facility that includes a 480-seat proscenium theatre; a 200-seat multi-purpose space; and a 300-seat outdoor Amphitheatre.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (The following essential job functions and examples of duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive. Duties may be modified, added or deleted at the discretion of the Production Manager):

 

  • Event running for LTAC presented, produced, rental and city events. Schedule includes nights, weekends, early morning work and extended working hours.
  • Work in a variety of stage crew positions including deck, lighting, audio, video, props or wardrobe as needed.
  • Safely load and unload theatrical equipment; assist in stage set-up, operation and maintenance, including working with scenery, lighting, audio, video, props or wardrobe as directed.
  • Perform basic trouble shooting and facility maintenance. (ex. paint deck, replace house lamps, touch-up wall paint, etc.)
  • Supervise, train and model duties for part-time stage technicians as needed.
  • Assist clients and artists with production and organizational needs.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Oversee part-time and overhire stagehands while running events as directed by Production Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience and Training Guidelines

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:

(1) Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Technical Theatre; (2) 3 – 6 years of progressive professional technical theatre experience, preferably in a multi-venue arts center or in a touring environment; (3) 2 years of supervisory experience, leading diverse technical theatre teams and crews in a variety of projects; (4) training on and experience with a wide range of theatrical equipment systems, including lighting, sound, audio/visual and rigging.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Must have knowledge of general safety procedures related to working in a theatrical & construction environment.
  • Knowledge of theatrical stage practices.
  • Basic knowledge of stage lighting instruments, video equipment, stage carpentry, digital audio mixers, amplifiers, and speakers.
  • Ability to make minor sewing repairs.
  • Knowledge of counterweight fly systems and their associated hardware, as well as safety procedures.
  • Commitment to teamwork, leading by example, and maintaining a positive and customer-focused work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel and visitors of the City of Lone Tree.
  • Demonstrated personal effectiveness, credibility, thoroughness, flexibility, and collaboration skills in adhering to and advancing both the Lone Tree Arts Center and City’s vision, mission and values.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and software applications including computerized lighting and sound systems, presentation software, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Ability to maintain irregular and/or extended working hours.

 

Physical Demands

 

  • Position requires constant standing, sitting, walking (2-3 miles), climbing, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting (min. 50 lbs.), pulling, pushing (up to 200 lbs.), uses wrist motion and finger dexterity, eye/hand coordination, sees, hears and talks.
  • Requires planning, agility, balance, coordination, accuracy, patience, working rapidly, good memory.
  • Ability to perform various tasks under adverse/hazardous conditions, work within tight deadlines, amid distractions, listen well, follow directions, attention to details, and distinguish colors.
  • Work performed primarily in a climate-controlled environment, but occasionally done outdoors, exposed to the elements.
  • Hazards: Exposure to high electrical amperage (400 amps), hot instruments, explosive bulbs, moderate to high levels of noise, theatrical lighting, stage and area smoke, cleaning chemicals, dust particles.
  • Work in dimly lit or dark areas, on various flooring surfaces, with different materials and fabrics.
  • Subject to heights of 60’.
