Job Title: Immigration Paralegal – Family-Based Consular Practice

Location: San Antonio, TX (in-person)

Job Type: Full-time

Expected Hours: 40 per week

Job Summary:

The Immigration Paralegal will support attorneys by providing clerical, administrative, and legal research assistance in family-based consular immigration matters. Responsibilities include preparing and filing petitions and waivers, communicating with clients and government agencies, and managing case documentation. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compassionate service in a fast-paced legal environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists attorneys with the preparation and filing of primarily family-based consular immigration petitions, waivers, and related applications.
• Conducts legal research and gathers supporting documentation for immigration cases.
• Drafts, proofreads, and edits legal documents and correspondence.
• Maintains and organizes client files, case documents, and supporting materials using document management systems (e.g., INSZoom).
• Communicates with clients, U.S. government agencies, and other relevant parties throughout the immigration process.
• Schedules client appointments, manages attorney calendars, and supports general administrative functions.
• Maintains accurate records of time and case progress.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Fluent in both English and Spanish (Required).
• Strong understanding of family-based immigration law and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with legal software and document management platforms such as INSZoom.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong clerical and administrative abilities, including data entry, file organization, and transcription.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a high-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

• Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred; Bachelors degree required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in family-based immigration law preferred.
• Prior experience using INSZoom or similar case management tools preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
