OVERVIEW The role of the Family Advocate is to work with eligible homeless families providing assessment, housing navigation efforts, housing-related case management, and coordination of services. This position will provide services to families needing housing support to obtain housing stability. This position promotes optimal family health & well-being using the Housing First Factors Framework. The Housing Navigation Case Manager will work collaboratively both internally and with community partners to provide resources, referrals, navigation assistance, and tools that support program participants in developing life skills that will lead to an increased quality of life by providing high-quality comprehensive community and evidence-based services to families, infants, and children.FAMILY PROMISE Introduction to Family Promise Our mission is to help families experiencing unsheltered living conditions and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Today, we remain a national organization focused on helping families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Family Promise of Las Vegas (FPLV) Family Promise of Las Vegas has served our community for 28 years. We assist families with children facing the crisis of homelessness. Since 1996 FPLV has continued to collaborate with community-wide partners to develop innovative programs that serve the needs of our region.Position Summary: The role of the Family Advocate is to work with eligible unsheltered families providing assessment, housing navigation efforts, trauma-supported case management, and coordination of services. This position will provide services to families needing housing support to obtain housing stability. The Family Advocate will work internally and with community partners to provide resources, referrals, navigation assistance, and tools that support program participants in developing life skills that will lead to an increased quality of life by providing high-quality comprehensive community and evidence-based services to unsheltered Clark County families.Position Duties:Case Management Caseload size will vary based on referral source, capacity, and complexity of family needs. Regularly meet with clients inside and outside the Family Navigation Day Site office to assess housing needs and complete intake, following grant protocol guidelines. Provide training and referrals to clients regarding financial empowerment, life skills, tenant education, parent and child resiliency, and support towards identified family or individual goals. Assist clients in the assessment of needs to prepare a service plan to determine their goals and assist with self-advocacy in relation to housing and family services. Assisting individuals to gain access to needed medical, social, educational, and other services as well as addressing barriers to housing stability. Engage in advocacy and collaboration with agencies and landlords on behalf of families. Risk reduction, intervention, and advocacy, with a focus on nutrition and physical activity, management of illness, substance use/abuse, trauma, and abuse. Coordinate various plans among appropriate community partners, particularly in the areas of housing, family services, and employment-related supports. Engage in general advocacy with a focus on the goal of successfully obtaining permanent and safe housing for clients. Identify and access additional appropriate resources for families that have not yet been utilized. Attend all mandated training and be available for additional training opportunities as identified supervisor. Work collaboratively as part of a team. Perform any other duties as specified under the mandates of our grants. Database/Processes Create & implement necessary updates, processes, and accountability for grant reporting databases.Administrative Duties Maintain appropriate records as needed. Data entry and preparation of reports as assigned and in HMIS. Review and development of needed additional programs. Attend local and state housing coalition meetings and other meetings as assigned. Perform any additional administrative or other duties as needed. Maintain confidentiality consistent with the Agencys policies and the law. Attends Agency events, public awareness, and other activities. QUALIFICATIONS Fluency in Spanish is required.. Bachelors Degree in Education, Human Services, Counseling preferred, OR related experience Familiarity with housing/homelessness resources in Clark County Knowledge of risk factors associated with domestic and sexual violence and their relationship to homelessness, as well as knowledge and experience working with issues of poverty and substance abuse. Experience working in a home or community setting with families and children, home visiting experience preferred. Experience working with families with complex needs. Knowledge of resources in the community along with the ability to teach simple life skills, including tenancy, budgeting, healthy eating, and personal safety skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to work with a wide range of people, including professionals and consumers, while. maintaining an awareness of everyones needs and strengths. Must be detail-oriented and be able to maintain accurate records and prepare comprehensive progress reports, as well as develop and track self-identified goals. A demonstrated commitment to a strengths-based intervention practice. Must demonstrate the highest ethical standards, be able to effectively communicate the goals of the programs, and collaborate effectively with grant partners. Must display caring, respect, resilience, a willingness to adapt to change, and excellent interpersonal skills.SKILLS To perform this job successfully, the applicant must demonstrate: Relational Motivational Networker Active Listening, Negotiation, and Presentation Skills Good Understanding of Microsoft Ofce and Google Drive programs Collaborative Self-SufcientEQUIPMENT UTILIZED This position requires regular use of the following tools: Computer and supporting software programs: Google Suite, Email, Slack, Canva, Electronic databases Other ofce equipment including, but not limited to, printers and copiers.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position may require an employee to successfully perform the following functions of the job.
