Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the Cimarron Environmental, Health and Safety Program in Oklahoma and Kansas locations
- Works with Cimarron leadership and Folience Shared Services to develop a strong safety culture. Participates in the Folience Safety Council.
- Designs and directs safety training programs to reduce incidents, occupational injuries and illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards
- Plans new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instructions, and the use of protective personal equipment
- Schedules all safety trainings and maintains annual safety calendar. Ensures that required annual trainings are scheduled and complete, such as annual hearing tests.
- Evaluates current safety programs and training for effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements
- Ensures the workplace is compliant with government regulatory agencies, such as OSHA, DNR, and EPA.
- Coordinates and participates in OSHA consultation visits.
- Track and analyze incident (injury and illness) data to prevent accident recurrences
- Maintains OSHA recordable and reportable injury log and files annual log in accordance with deadlines.
- Participates in quarterly workers’ compensation claim reviews and stays up-to-date on all workers’ compensation claims.
- Manages environmental permitting.
- Coordinates required annual safety training with external vendors
- Conducts monthly safety audits and ensures corrective actions on all necessary items
- Develops policies for hazardous material disposal procedures
- Other duties as assigned, per the needs of the business
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related degree
- OSHA 30 hour for General Industry
- Combination of Education and experience will be considered, however, a minimum of 5+ years in workplace safety is required
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of OSHA, DNR, and EPA regulations
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation system in the State of Oklahoma and Kansas
- Proficiency with computers and various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must possess the ability to work effectively with management, vendors, customers, and employees
- Must excel at working in a team environment.
- This position requires that the person be a highly organized individual, who is self-motivated, possesses excellent attention to detail and can work independently.
- Must demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including group presentations.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Physical Demands:
- Required to sit or stand and move about the facility.
- Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 25 lbs. individually.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety Glasses while in shop.
- Hearing protection while in shop
- Safety Shoes, steel/composite, at all times
Work Environment:
- Majority of time is spent in a production environment
- Periodically exposed to any number of elements, extreme heat & cold, working in and out of doors between buildings
